Time To Ramp Up Training For The Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon

DENVER (CBS4) - The Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon & 1/2 is Sunday, Oct. 19, and those doing the marathon still have five or six solid weeks left before they start tapering back.

"For the 1/2, 5 or 10K, you should really be ramping up. This is the meat of your time to get ready," said two-time Olympian Alan Culpepper.

Culpepper recommends that people who are running the 5K for the first time should really consider following a training plan.

"Having a plan will help alleviate unnecessary anxiety about what you should be doing training-wise and will provide a nice added element of accountability," Culpepper said.

Culpepper also suggests finding a friend, family member or training group to  train with.

"Accountability via a training plan and training partners a few days a week will make a huge difference," Culpepper added.

The Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon & 1/2 is Sunday, Oct. 19, at 7:15 a.m. at Civic Center Park.
