Thousands Slip-And-Slide Their Way Down A Boulder Street
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - Fun took the form of a 1,000 foot long slip-and-slide in Boulder on Saturday.
Nearly 5,000 people put on their swimsuits and got tickets for the unusual summer event, which started in the morning and was set to continue into late into the night.
Slide the City describes itself as "a family friendly slip-and-slide water party event," and the slip-and-slide is the big draw. It started in Utah but it has been traveling across the country with its portable slide.
On Saturday, that slide stretched across and down two blocks of 13th Avenue in the city's University Hill neighborhood.
Riders got to use a tube provided by the company to go down the slide or they could bring their own. There were also employees with ropes who gave a pull to anyone who got stuck.
The company's slide is so long that it broke a Guinness World Record for longest distance traveled on a slip-and-slide in Texas last month.

"We lay some protective high density foam down the slide and then we just unroll the slide on top of it," Slide the City employee Brandon Jay said. "It's pretty much like a giant inflatable slide."
The event was a hit with people a CBS4 crew interviewed on Saturday morning.
"We are going to fly," one person said who was waiting in the long line to use the slide.
"Start fast! You've got to have your feet up and your head down," was the advice of another slide-goer.
