Thornton Teen Accused Of Murder To Be Charged As An Adult

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4/AP) — A 17-year-old boy accused of killing an 18-year-old man during a fight has been charged with first-degree murder.

Matthew James Trujillo is accused of killing Anthony Benavidez, 18, of Thornton during a fight in the early hours of Jan. 4. The Adams County Coroner's Office says Benavidez died of a knife wound.

District Attorney Dave Young said Trujillo has been charged as an adult.

Two additional people have also been charged in connection with the case, but their names and charges haven't been released.

Benavidez lived at the Pine Lakes Mobile Home Park where the fight occurred.
