Thornton Pet Store Owner Convicted Of 18 Counts Of Animal Cruelty

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) - An owner of a pet store in Thornton has been convicted of 18 counts of animal cruelty.

Kenneth Mark Kubic of Jurassic Pets located at 104th Avenue and Washington Street will be sentenced next month in Adams County.

Kubic's son, Brian Kubic, pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor cruelty in April.

Kubic's wife, Lynn Denise Kubic, is set for trial on charges in mid-June.

Thornton police investigated after complaints of animal neglect at the store last year. Witnesses testified that some of the animals were extremely malnourished and died from neglect. Others had been living in filthy conditions for months and desperately needed veterinary care.

The abused animals included kittens, hedgehogs, reptiles and rodents.
