Therapeutic Art Helping Kids Cope With Disasters
ESTES PARK, Colo. (CBS4) – Therapeutic art is something that is helping children cope and move on from disasters and tragedy.
High school students drove 13 hours to come to classrooms in Estes Park and help Colorado kids that are dealing with the devastation of the floods.
The kids work on a therapeutic art project using art supplies that were donated to them.
It's a way for them to express their feelings following the devastation of the floods back in September.
The students that helped them on Friday were rom Joplin, Missouri, where they dealt with a devastating tornado in 2011.
"We love getting creative too with them and just seeing what comes out of expression and how you feel and stuff like that. It's like a different realm of how to express yourself," said one volunteer.
On Saturday volunteers will get a firsthand look at some of the damage in Glen Haven and then head back to Missouri.
