Lawsuit Filed To Stop New Development In Historic Littleton Neighborhood

LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) - Neighbors are teaming up to fight a new development in downtown Littleton.

The Grove project is going up along Littleton Boulevard near Santa Fe and Bowles. It will include apartments and retail space.

Opponents say it just doesn't fit into the historic neighborhood.

"This is a really huge building -- 336,000 square feet, five stories. It just doesn't fit the character or the scale of the surrounding area," said Littleton resident Leah Burkett.

Opponents say the city approved the project without their input, so they filed a lawsuit arguing The Grove violates zoning codes. They're hoping a judge will order a new zoning hearing.

The city and the developer declined to comment.
