Telluride No. 4 In Travel Site's U.S. Vacation List

DENVER (CBS4) - Telluride ranks highly among the nation's most sought-after vacation destinations, according to travel website TripAdvisor.

The southwestern mountain town is fourth on the website's list of "Choice Destinations on the Rise" in the United States. It's noted for its "picturesque snow-covered peaks and year-round recreation."

It is pricier, however, than its top-5 brethren. A hotel will run visitors roughly $300 a night, compared to No. 1 Wildwood, New Jersey, which will set travelers back just $155 a night. Only Waikoloa, Hawaii, is more expensive.

The locations were chosen based on a TripAdvisor formula that measures year-over-year increases in positive reviews of destinations' hotels, restaurants and attractions.
