Teen Taken Into Custody After Disturbance At The Waverly School
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - Larimer County sheriff's deputies had to be called after a disturbance at the Waverly School north of Fort Collins Tuesday morning.
According to Jennifer Hillmann with the sheriff's department, deputies were dispatched to the Waverly School just before noon on a report of a disruptive student.
"The initial report from the reporting party was that a 15-year-old male was breaking things and being disorderly at the school," Hillmann said in a statement. "The juvenile male also had a lighter in his possession and was near flammable liquids inside the school."
Hillmann said the Wellington Fire Department was called to the scene and 17 other students at the school were put on lockdown but were later evacuated.
Deputies were able to take the teen suspect into custody.
"The juvenile male was cooperative once in custody," Hillmann said.
Charges are now pending against the teen.
The Waverly School is an alternative school that specializes in children with drug and alcohol problems.
