Teen Stabbing Suspect Ordered To Stay In Custody

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4)- A middle school student accused of stabbing a classmate at school has been ordered to remain in custody at a juvenile detention center.

Police said the 14-year-old boy stabbed a 14-year-old girl on April 30 while at Aspen Creek K-8 School. She was airlifted to the hospital.

The stabbing occurred during recess. Eighth-graders told CBS4 that a joke gone too far may be what led to the stabbing.

Wednesday's hearing was held to determine if he should be released on bond and return home with his family.

The judge ruled the teen posed a risk to the community. The teen has not been identified because he is a juvenile.
