Teen Shooting Survivor: 'It Was Shrapnel In My Leg'

DENVER (CBS4)- A girl who was just 13-years-old at the time of the Aurora theater shooting testified on Tuesday how she didn't realize she was injured until she was already safe at home.

Hailee Hensley attended the showing of the Batman premier with several others who were wounded or killed. Among them, 6-year-old Veronica Moser Sullivan who died and her mother, Ashlee, who was seriously injured.

Hailee was wounded but didn't realize it until she was safely out of the theater and back home.

"At first I thought it was just like, a splatter of blood on my right shin but it wouldn't wash off. So it was shrapnel in my leg," said Hailee. "I also noticed a gash on my left upper thigh on the back of it."
