Teen Arrested After Thornton Man Dies Of Fight Injury

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4/AP) — Thornton police have taken a 17-year-old youth into custody in connection with the killing of an 18-year-old man during a fight over the weekend.

Police identified the victim Tuesday as Anthony Benavidez, 18, of Thornton. The Adams County Coroner's Office says Benavidez died of a knife wound.

Investigators say the juvenile is facing first-degree murder charges.

Thornton Police Sgt. Matt Kandt says officers were called to the scene of the fight at about 1:45 a.m. last Saturday.

Benavidez lived at the Pine Lakes Mobile Home Park where the fight occurred.
