Teacher Stabbed In Botched Golden Home Invasion Improving

GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — A Golden middle school teacher stabbed while trying to defend his home from three intruders who broke into the wrong house is improving as police search for two suspects.

Jesse Swift was stabbed by a 21-year-old suspect after confronting them during Monday night's botched home invasion. The Jefferson County School District said Wednesday that he is in stable condition.

Police say Swift, who grabbed a kitchen knife, also stabbed the same suspect, who is also hospitalized.

Police say the young men were expecting to find $10,000 in cash and drugs.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested but a 20-year-old suspect on probation for burglary and other charges and a getaway driver are still at large.

Friends of the Swifts are raising money to help cover medical expenses and help the family move.
