Tanker Crash Spills Gas On Motor City Drive

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- A tanker truck spilled gasoline after it crashed early Friday morning on Motor City Drive in Colorado Springs.

The road was closed for several hours after the tanker crashed near several car dealerships. Fuel spilled onto the road at a rate of 15 gallons per minute.

People were urged to stay away from nearby Fountain Creek and several parks near the creek were closed because of safety concerns.

Police believe the tanker struck a parked pickup. Officers are also investigating whether speed played a role in the crash.

The tanker driver went to the hospital. The extent of injuries was unknown.
