SWAT Team Uses Robot To Talk Stabbing Suspect Out Of Apartment

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) - Longmont police arrested a man for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend in the neck.

Officers arrested Vincent Hernandez, 24, on charges of attempted murder early Saturday morning.

Police rushed to the apartment where the attack happened in the 2500 block of Sunset Drive and located the victim, but Hernandez refused to come out.

"Officers attempted to establish contact with the suspect, but all attempts were unsuccessful," police said in a statement.

The SWAT team was called to the scene. They used robots to enter the apartment and make contact with the suspect.

"Using the robot, they talked with the suspect and convinced him to surrender," police said.

The stabbing victim was taken to Longmont United Hospital and then was transported to Swedish Medical Center because of concerns about internal bleeding. She's expected to survive.

Hernandez also had two warrants for his arrest out of Boulder County for menacing and protection order violation.
