SUV Crashes Through Backyards, Killing Driver
HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (CBS4) - One woman is dead after she lost control of her SUV in Highlands Ranch and it careened through several backyards.
The crash happened on the 9600 block of Rockhampton Way near South University Boulevard and Quebec Street.
The vehicle was traveling east on University before it crashed. After tearing through a home's back deck and causing heavy damage, the SUV wound up on its side on a fence next to another home.
"It was super loud and we all freaked out, we didn't know what it was. In our basement one of the windows was shattered, so we thought someone broke in but then my brother and my dad came out here and saw the car and we all ran outside and dialed 911," said one resident.
The driver has been identified as Teresa Hood, 58.
Authorities believe Hood was speeding before the crash happened.
