Suspicious Package At RTD Station Prompts Bomb Squad Detonation

LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) - A suspicious package was found at an RTD station in Littleton on Saturday, prompting a bomb squad detonation.

It was found around 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the light rail station at West Mineral Avenue and South Santa Fe Drive.

Police said someone saw a suitcase with speaker wires coming out of it, and called authorities.

The parking lot was evacuated as a precaution. The bomb squad arrived and detonated the suitcase.

Witnesses tell CBS4 they heard a loud boom, and nearby car alarms went off.

The scene was cleared by 10 p.m. Saturday night, and police are continuing their investigation.
