Suspected Gunman Arrested In Deadly Shooting At Bear Valley Plaza

DENVER (CBS4)- Police arrested a suspected gunman in connection to a shooting death in the parking lot of the Bear Valley Shopping Center. He was arrested thousands of miles away in another state.

The shooting happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday near West Dartmouth Avenue and South Sheridan Boulevard in the southwest area of Denver.

Police said the victim, identified as Donald Johnson, 26, had a gunshot wound to the chest and was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Nicholas Vandervoort was identified as a suspect by Denver police detectives and their investigation led to him being located in Louisiana. Vandervoort, 19, has been taken into custody and will face extradition back to Denver.
