Suspect Shot, Killed By Lakewood Police Identified

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- The suspect shot and killed by police in Lakewood on Tuesday night has been identified as Robin Alan Barber.

The shooting occurred at the Motel 6 located at 5th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard about 9:20 p.m. after officers located a stolen vehicle in the parking lot.

As officers watched the vehicle, Barber, 28, eventually approached it. When officers tried to contact him, he ran which resulted in a short chase.

During the chase, Barber fired shots at officers and the officers returned fire, striking Barber who was later pronounced dead.

An unidentified female who was a passenger in the vehicle was also taken into custody for questioning. She has been released but could still face charges.

The Jefferson County Critical Incident Response Team continues to investigate the shooting which is standard practice in all police-involved shootings.
