Suspect Shot In Confrontation With Colorado Springs Police

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Colorado Springs police say a suspect was shot when he opened fire on police on Saturday.

Lt. Catherine Buckley says officers were responding to a report of shots being fired when they spotted a suspect matching the description of the person they were trying to find. The condition of the suspect was not available.

She says the investigation has been turned over to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and there are no details available on what led up to the shooting.

Buckley says a number of streets in the downtown area have been shut down while the investigation continues. The shutdowns are expected to continue most of the day.

El Paso County sheriff's spokeswoman Jacqueline Kirby was not available for comment.
