Suspect Killed After Firing At Officers From Stolen Vehicle

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) - One man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Westminster Wednesday night.

Westminster Police were investigating a stolen vehicle at approximately 9:50 p.m. in the 7300 block of Tennyson Street. When they approached, a man associated with the stolen car brandished a gun and began firing at officers.

The officers returned fire, and the suspect died at the scene. Five officers were involved and one sustained minor injuries and was treated.

"This is a pretty unfortunate incident, but the suspect made the decision to pull out a gun and fire at officers, fortunately none of our officers were killed or seriously injured," said Kate Kazell of the Westminster Police Department.

The shooting is under investigation.
