Suspect Arrested In Fort Collins-Area Mail Thefts

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a man accused of stealing checks and credit cards from the mail in rural areas around Fort Collins and using them in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday that 47-year-old Harry Edwin Jenkins Jr. of Cowdrey was arrested on suspicion of identity theft, forgery and theft.

The sheriff's department says purchases were made with the stolen credit cards, and stolen checks were altered and cashed.

No phone number could be found for Jenkins. He was released on $10,000 bond.

Authorities have said at least 15 residents and businesses reported mail thefts last month.
