Superintendent Teaches P.E. Classes In Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - The head of the Jefferson County School District stepped in to teach P.E. classes at three elementary schools on Wednesday.

Superintendent Dan McMinimee was there to celebrate the kids' outstanding performance in the annual "Jump Rope For Heart" and "Hoops For Heart" programs.

He also rewarded Arvada K-8 with an extra $1000 for its P.E. budget to help keep students healthy all year long.

"That's what we really want kids to know. Not only is it about reading, writing, arithmetic, but it's also about taking care of yourself so you can enjoy the benefits of being a good student," said McMinimee.

The superintendent also made stops at Mitchell and Parmalee elementary schools. He was a P.E. teacher in Oregon earlier in his career.
