Sunny Friday, Then More April Showers Possible

By Justin McHeffey

Beautiful temperatures remain in Denver's forecast through the end of the week. Mostly sunny skies are expected on Friday with highs in the upper 70s — that's 15 degrees above average. A desert airmass controls our region for the first half of the weekend with sunny conditions for most of Saturday.

Weather during the Rockies game won't disappoint on Friday evening. First pitch is at 6:40 p.m. with mild temperatures through the game.
Looking at the jet stream pattern, notice how the upper level winds create a big ridge over Colorado on Friday. That's essentially going to allow dry air to dominate our forecast over the next 48 hours. Clouds will be minimal through Friday, although the active weather returns by Saturday afternoon.
Just to the west of our high pressure is a developing system in the Pacific Ocean. While it's still getting organized now, it should be in our area by Saturday. High country clouds increase during the morning hours, the metro area will see them by the afternoon.
Snow accumulations are possible above 9,000 feet by Saturday evening. Most of the snow will fall along and north of Interstate 70 and west of the Continental Divide.
The low pressure shifts over the northeastern plains on Saturday evening and might bring some scattered showers. There's just enough moisture and instability in the atmosphere for a stray thunderstorm over Denver — it doesn't look too impressive at the moment. A cold front moves in with the system and will pull temperatures down a few degrees for Sunday.
The early part of next week looks fairly wet as a few disturbances move across the state. Expect cooler temps Monday and Tuesday with some rain possible.
