Summit County Rapid Avalanche Deployment Team Honored By Sheriff
FRISCO, Colo. (CBS4) – Forty-five members of the Summit County Rapid Avalanche Deployment Team were honored by the sheriff on Tuesday.
The team is comprised of volunteers, avalanche experts, ski patrollers from all four ski resorts in Summit County, and the Flight For Life helicopter crew.
A special patch was made to commemorate the ceremony and the members of the team. The cross represents the Ski Patrol while the paw signifies the dogs certified in avalanche recovery.
Dog duties include locating the victim and keeping everyone smiling.
The saying at the bottom of the patch translates from Latin to mean "to find what is buried."
