DENVER (CBS4) – Police were searching for a gun at a school in Denver after a student admitted to bringing the weapon to school.

Denver Venture Charter School and McAuliffe International School, both located in the 2500 block of Holly Street, went on lockdown after an anonymous call reported a student had a gun Monday afternoon.

The Denver Public School District says no weapon was found.

Police say the student, who was questioned by police, admitted to having a gun but didn't know where it was.

After a delay for the search students were released from the school.

It's not clear if the search will continue. The school planned to send a note about the incident to parents.
