Stock Show Tradition: Grand Champion Steer Attends High Tea At Brown Palace

DENVER (CBS4) -- It's a Colorado tradition -- not a bull in a china shop but a bull heading to high tea! The Grand Champion "Olaf" and runner steers from the National Western Stock Show made their annual appearance at the Brown Palace Friday morning.

"The Wild West meets the Elegant West at the 75th Annual Steer at the Brown," the hotel stated on Instagram. "Welcome the National Western Stock Show Grand Champion Steer, as he waltzes into our atrium lobby for Afternoon Tea."

After their red-carpet walk in the morning, Olaf and the runner up were auctioned off Friday evening at the Stock Show.

"I cant even the emotions and the feeling I am having right now. Being my last year out here it has been awesome. It has been a great way to go out and i have been having a great time," said Olaf's handler Ashtin Guyer.

Olaf, sold for an all-time record of $155,000. The Grand Champion Hog sold for an impressive $100,000, and the Reserve Grand Champion Steer sold for $105,000.
