Spruce Beetle The Most Damaging Forest Pest In Colorado For 9th Consecutive Year

(CBS4)- The spruce beetle is still the most damaging forest pest in Colorado for the ninth consecutive year. This is based on a 2020 aerial detection survey led by forest managers.

The forest managers monitored forest conditions on millions of acres across the state. While they found the spruce beetle intensity did decrease last year, the pest continues to infest and kill trees in new areas such as eastern Gunnison and western Chaffee counties.
