Spanish-Language Environmental Ad Hits Gardner

DENVER (AP) - Liberals are going after Rep. Cory Gardner for his environmental positions -- in Spanish.

A new Spanish-language television ad accuses the Republican candidate for Senate of trying to "deceive" the community. Gardner has styled himself a new kind of Republican but the ad notes he is backed by the billionaire Koch brothers who made their fortunes partly in the oil industry.

The ad is from the liberal groups People for the American Way and NextGen Climate Action. It accuses Gardner of letting polluters hurt the Hispanic community.

Gardner is running against Democratic Sen Mark Udall. It's one of the top Senate races in the country. Polls show it's deadlocked. The candidates and their backers have already put tens of millions of dollars' worth of ads on Colorado television.
