South Broadway Bandits Strike Again

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- The South Broadway Bandits may be back and their crime spree is spreading to more businesses in Englewood.

"They stole from me three cars," said Better Cars dealership owner Bader Alrashed.

The criminals have been targeting businesses along South Broadway since December 2014. Police haven't made any arrests.

After a few months on hiatus, the thieves are once again targeting shops along the busy stretch of Englewood, south of Denver.

They took three of Alrashed's vehicles and vandalized several others.

"They took a tailgate and tail lights," said Alrashed.

From January through March, 20 stores were broken into along a 2-mile stretch of South Broadway.

Surveillance video inside an apparel store shows a shadowy figure cleaning out the shelves before disappearing into an alley. No arrests have been made.

Englewood Police say the bandits are back. Officers aren't positive they are the same crooks. They are believed to be in their late teens or early 20s.

Over the past few weeks several smash-and-grab burglaries and car break-ins have been reported on South Broadway as well as Downing to University and Yale to Harvard.

Store owners say they've had enough.

"They're just thugs. It just gets old after a while," said store owner Steve Gomez.

Alrashed has added an alarm system and surveillance cameras to his shop to keep his vehicles safe.

"I have cameras, surveillance 24 hours," said Alrashed.

He also has a message for the elusive bandits, "It's not worth going to jail for a few hundred bucks. They should just go find a job."
