Some Thanksgiving Holiday Skiers Will Be Lucky, Others Not So Much

VAIL, Colo. (CBS4) - Some skiers who booked vacations in Colorado's mountains over the Thanksgiving holiday will be lucky, while others may be a bit disappointed.

Due to the lack of snow across Colorado's high country, Vail won't open until the day after Thanksgiving and Telluride has yet to set an opening date.

After some snow this week and extensive snowmaking efforts, Copper Mountain and Keystone Resort opened on Friday and Breckenridge opens on Saturday.

The following three resorts will open next Wednesday:

- Winter Park
- Steamboat Ski Area
- Beaver Creek (Note: officials said that opening is "weather permitting.")

Keystone and Copper each reported approximately half a foot of snow Friday morning. That's the first morning where they've had measurable snowfall in a while in what has been an unseasonably warm fall in the Rockies.
