Some Schools Ban Clown Costumes

GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4)- Some school districts have banned clown costumes for Halloween after recent threats on social media.

The Greeley-Evans School District 6 has banned clown costumes in middle and high schools along with masks and full face makeup.

The school district said that it will be left to individual elementary schools to decide whether to enact a ban.

The recent threats of violence to schools are being fueled by what one Denver metro area police department referred to as "social media hysteria."

All the clown incidents in Colorado have been hoaxes.
