Snowplows Out In Force For Thanksgiving Week Snowstorm
(CBS4) - Colorado Department of Transportation plows are out in force trying to tackle Monday's snowstorm which will carry over into Tuesday. CDOT pre-treated roads, but warns the plows could have a hard time keeping up.
"Our crews were out today. We have pre-treated all of our major roads with a salt water combination. We treat the roads with a combination of water and salt. The water evaporates, and it leaves behind a brine. That helps to melt the snow and ice when it falls down," said CDOT Spokeswoman Tamara Rollison on Monday afternoon.
Even with 100 plows out on the highways, CDOT asks anyone who can work from home to do so and to avoid driving on Tuesday.
"Even with all our preparations and our pre-treatment; when we're getting snow two to four inches an hour roads are going to be snow-covered. That's why it's so important for motorists to stay appraised of the weather conditions, the road conditions, and if they can avoid or limit driving during the brunt of the storm," Rollison said.

Denver's plow drivers are also on duty addressing main streets. Residential plow drivers will start working on Tuesday at 3 a.m. until 3 p.m.
"The residential plows shave off the top few inches of snow pack and will not expose bare pavement. The residential plows do not carry de-icing materials," Denver city officials said.
Larimer County also reports having a full staff of 30 plow drivers working.
