Snow Crews Remain On Alert As Storm Continues

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Snow plow crews will remain on alert along the Front Range as the snow continues to fall.

The Colorado Department of Transportation will have road crews out on the roadways as much as needed, typically as long as the snow continues to fall.

In the high country, the conditions became intense near the Eisenhower Tunnel as the snow started to accumulate and created slick driving conditions.

There were two closures of Interstate 70 between Georgetown and Silverplume on Thursday morning because of winter driving conditions.

The conditions were treacherous enough that CDOT put chain laws into effect.

One truck driver from Texas said the conditions were horrible.

"It's just horrible, slow driving, slippery. You've just got to take your time," said Texas truck driver Deon Simon.

Trucks may be required to drive with chains through the weekend.

In the Denver metro area they expect a lot of slush to cause problems during the evening and morning commutes.
