DENVER (AP) - Snoop Dogg has canceled a "Yes We Cannabis" concert planned to back an independent candidate for Colorado governor.

Independent candidate Mike Dunafon told The Denver Post that the rapper planned to headline the festival over Halloween weekend but has canceled.

Dunafon is mayor of Glendale just outside Denver. He is trying to appeal to marijuana activists with a campaign focused on loosening remaining penalties for marijuana-related offenses. Colorado legalized recreational marijuana in 2012, but adults with more than an ounce of weed can still be prosecuted.

Dunafon says the entire festival has been canceled.

Snoop Dogg contributed a lyric to Dunafon's online campaign video, "The Trap." The video criticized Colorado's approach to legal pot. The video also includes a performance by Wyclef Jean.
