Small Plane Crashes In Field Near Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Colo. (AP/CBS4) - Two people have been injured after a small plane crashed between Glenwood Springs and Carbondale.

The Garfield County Sheriff's Office says the plane crashed Sunday morning in a field near the Rio Grande Trail.

The pilot and a passenger have been taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

The RFTA/Rio Grande Trail will be closed in the vicinity of the crash to preserve the scene. People wishing to use the trail from Glenwood to Carbondale are encouraged to use the alternative path along County Road 109 from the Hardwick Bridge.
