Westminster Mother Runs Over, Kills Her 2 Year Old In Tragic Accident
WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) - A 2-year-old girl and killed by a pickup truck being driven by her mother on Wednesday morning in Westminster. Police say the accident happened in the family's driveway.
Police said the mother, who has not been identified, was taking her other children to school when it happened.
The initial investigation reveals that the mother was backing out of the driveway at 7:05 a.m. when she struck the 2-year-old. The child was pronounced deceased on scene.
Neighbors were shocked when they learned what had happened.
"I've never seen her out of the yard. That's another thing that makes me upset because the mom was great with the kids... always telling them get in the yard," said neighbor Mary Miller.

"With any fatal accident we always investigate the scene and make sure the story matches up with the evidence. We don't believe that this is anything but an accident but we always treat it as if there are questions just so that we can make sure nothing illegal happened," said Westminster Police spokeswoman Cheri Spottke.
The investigation is taking place at 8601 Zuni Street. That's a block away from Camenisch Park, just southwest of Water World.

Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been involved.
The identity of the child has not been released.
