SkyView Classes Resume After Device Rupture

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (AP) — Students are back in class at a school in Highlands Ranch where a chemical device was triggered in a classroom Tuesday.

Two juveniles were taken into custody after the incident in a high school classroom at SkyView Academy. The classroom wasn't damaged but Douglas County Sheriff's Sgt. Ron Hanavan says investigators don't believe the incident was accidental. He declined to release any details, including the nature of the device and the chemicals involved.

Investigators are consulting with prosecutors on possible charges against the two juveniles, both males. Authorities haven't said if they were among the injured.

The school says four students and a substitute teacher were treated at a hospital and released.

SkyView offers pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade classes.
