Skier Dies After Accident On Aspen Mountain

ASPEN, Colo. (CBS4) – A skier is dead after apparently colliding with trees on Aspen Mountain.

Ski patrollers were alerted to a 911 call about a skier who had been found unconscious and tangled up in trees on Friday around 2:45 p.m.

Rescuers immediately began performing CPR on the unresponsive man.

Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

While there were no known witnesses to the accident rescuers surmised that the man left the designated ski trail and collided with trees, suffering head trauma on impact.

Authorities identified the man as Jonathan Stuart, a 56-year-old Aspen resident.
