Sinkhole Opens Up On 8th Avenue, Repairs To Water Main Take All Day

DENVER (CBS4) - A sinkhole caused by a water main break closed off a portion of 8th Avenue and Delaware Street in Denver Friday morning and will impact the evening commute.

The sinkhole opened up on the main thoroughfare at the intersection with Delaware Street, right next to Denver Health Medical Center.

A handful of residential customers and one business were without water for a time but that service was restored Friday afternoon. What caused the leak is being investigated.

Crews from Denver Water worked to repair the sinkhole but the repairs took longer than anticipated. All lanes are expected to reopen by 7 p.m. Friday.
