Silverton Man Gets 2 Years In Prison For Killing His Wife

SILVERTON, Colo. (CBS4) - A man has been sentenced to two years in prison for negligent homicide in the death of his wife.

The Durango Herald reports Jessica McFarland, 32, was found stabbed to death June 6, 2014, in her Silverton home. She was a mother of two children.

McFarland's husband, Michael McFarland, threw a broken bottle at her and she died from her injuries.

Michael McFarland denied any wrongdoing and said he was the victim of a tragic accident.

It was the first homicide in Silverton since 1985
