Napping Moose Keeps Silverthorne Library Closed

SILVERTHORNE, Colo. (CBS4)- The library in Silverthorne is closed, but it's not because of the snow. It's because a moose decided to take a nap on the sidewalk blocking the front door on Wednesday morning.

"The North Branch Library, here in Silverthorne, Colorado is temporarily closed due to a moose making an attempt at higher learning, and blocking the entrance. Please stay away from the library and DO NOT approach the moose," the library wrote on social media.

The library will remain closed until the young moose decides to move along. Just another day in Colorado's mountains.

"It was an eventful morning," said librarian Katie Koop..

The animal wasn't in a hurry to move. So library cards stayed tucked away in wallets. And the waiting game continued.

"Normally we wouldn't have been closed, even in this weather we try really hard to stay open because we are a place for people to hang out when they're waiting out the storm," Koop said.

Wildlife managers are reminding people to enjoy viewing moose from a safe distance.
