Shooting Leads To 12-Mile Police Chase, Suspect In Custody

DENVER (CBS4) - One person is in custody after a shooting and police pursuit early Friday morning.

It began at a McDonald's on Colorado Boulevard and Evans Avenue, where one person was injured in a shooting at approximately 2:25 a.m.

An individual fled the scene, sparking a police pursuit that went all the way into Lakewood.

It was at U.S. 285 and Simms Street, 12 miles away, where Denver police were able to stop the suspect with a pit maneuver. An arrest was made without further incident.

Dozens of officers remained at the original scene at Colorado and Evans questioning witnesses. They had a crime scene unit that blocked off most of the area around the gas station as they collected evidence and took photos. Investigators seemed to be focusing attention on a vehicle that was recently towed away.

The individual who was shot was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both scenes were cleared by approximately 5:30 a.m., ahead of morning traffic.
