1 Dead After Shooting In Plaza Parking Lot

DENVER (CBS4) - One person died after a shooting early Wednesday morning in the parking lot of a shopping center.

The shooting happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. near West Dartmouth Avenue and South Sheridan Boulevard in the southwest area of Denver.

Police arrived at the parking lot of the Bear Valley Shopping Center shortly before 2 a.m., and the crime scene unit arrived at 2:30 a.m.

Police said the victim has a gunshot wound to the chest and was rushed to the hospital. The victim did not survive.

Investigators focused on two scenes on Wednesday, the first where the victim was found in front of the King Soopers gas station and the other across the street near the Bear Valley Public Library.

Police have not provided a suspect description.
