Severe Storms & Flooding Rain Give Way To Snow For Mother's Day
DENVER (CBS4) - Get ready for a wild ride this weekend as a dynamic spring storm drops into the central and southern Rockies.
Before we get there we have a chance for a few strong and severe storms and more heavy rain.
A WILD RIDE THIS WEEKEND
During the day on Saturday a strong area of low pressure will move into the region and bring a variety of weather into the state.
On the eastern plains there is the potential to see a pretty significant severe weather outbreak as an area of low pressure strengthens and draws warm, moist air up from Texas.
That air will clash with a cold front coming in from the north.
The result will be showers and thunderstorms that could turn severe and produce everything from large damaging hail to tornadoes east of Interstate 25.

As the cold air moves in rain will change to snow in the mountains and foothills on Saturday.
Denver, the I-25 corridor and the northeast plains may also see rain change to a heavy, wet snow Saturday night.
Accumulations above 7,000 feet could be significant with up to a foot or more.
Lower elevations could see several inches depending on how everything times out with the arrival of the cold air.
By Monday morning, if skies clear, a hard freeze is possible.
Denver's record low for Monday, May 11 is 28°F.
