Semi Fire Shuts Down I-70, EB Lanes Remain Closed At Georgetown
SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Two semi fires shut down Interstate 70 in the high country. The fires happened in Georgetown and Silverthorne, with another vehicle fire at the tunnels.
I-70 was closed in both directions at Georgetown due to a semi fire about 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
I-70 EB: Safety closure at Exit 228 - Georgetown. Due to semi fire. No estimated time to open. Eastbound traffic detour in place. Westbound traffic using on/off ramps.

Westbound lanes reopened but eastbound lanes remained closed. There were six-mile backups in the area due to the closure.
Crews hope to have all lanes reopened by 5:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. Drivers are urged to take an alternate route.
I-70 EB: Heavy traffic between MM 221 and Exit 228 - Georgetown. Due to vehicle fire, detour in place.

Westbound lanes of I-70 were closed at Silverthorne due to a semi fire. Those lanes were reopened just after 1 p.m.
I-70 WB: Traffic delays in area at MM 205. Right lane blocked for cleanup following vehicle fire.

There was also a vehicle fire at the Eisenhower/Johnson Tunnels that impacted traffic for a short time. Those lanes reopened a short time later.
