Semi crash near Denver closes portion of westbound I-76 at Sheridan Boulevard

Semi crash cleaned up on westbound I-76

A crash involving a semi and two vehicles closed a portion of westbound I-76 at Sheridan Boulevard on Monday morning. According to the Colorado State Patrol, troopers rushed to the area of I-76 near mile marker 1 near Sheridan Boulevard at 6:44 a.m. for a report of a three-vehicle crash involving a semi.

The road was closed between Colorado Highway 95 or Sheridan Boulevard and I-70 or Wadsworth Boulevard, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. 

Troopers said initial reports indicate a semi with a trailer jack-knifed on the road, causing two additional vehicles to crash. During the crash, a fuel leak from the semi's side tank spilled onto the road. 

Investigators said those involved suffered minor injuries.

Vehicles were being directed off the interstate. Drivers were urged to take an alternate route to avoid delays. 

It was unclear how long the interstate would be closed.
