Security Guard Holds Wanted Graffiti Suspect Until Police Arrive

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Fort Collins have arrested a suspect in a series of vandalism cases involving graffiti on businesses.

According to police, an 18-year-old man was taken into custody on Sunday after being apprehended by a security guard in the 2100 block of Centre Avenue. Police said the security guard had witnessed the teen spray-painting a bus skywalk and a nearby fence.

"The security guard was able to apprehend the suspect and hold him until Fort Collins Police officers could arrive," Matt Johnson with Fort Collins Police Services said in a statement.

Cameras at the Joint Smoke Shop captured images of the vandal at work.

Police haven't released the suspect's name, but believe he's also responsible for other vandalism.

"The suspect is believed to be connected to previous vandalism reports beginning in the 2200 block of South College Avenue and continuing south to Harmony Road," Johnson said.

The teen faces criminal mischief charges.
