Second Phase Of Sentencing In Dexter Lewis Trial Begins Monday

DENVER (CBS4) - The second phase of sentencing for Dexter Lewis begins Monday.

A Denver jury convicted Lewis of killing five people at a bar in 2012 and then setting the place on fire to try to cover the crime.

The jury will now decide whether to sentence Lewis to death or life in prison. Last week they decided Lewis was eligible for the death penalty.

On Monday the defense will try to persuade jurors against a death sentence by talking about Lewis' background.

Jurors will decide if these mitigating factors, reasons the defense believes Lewis' life should be spared, outweigh the aggravating factors.
