Search & Rescue Finds Teen Boys Who Never Returned From Fishing

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Three teenage boys were found Wednesday morning by a search and rescue effort that began late Tuesday night.

The boys, ages 15 and 17 years old, were staying with others in a cabin in the Allenspark area of Boulder County.

They left to go fishing at a nearby pond around 6:30 p.m. It was their first time in the area and those at the cabin did not know which pond the three boys went to.

After attempts to locate them were unsuccessful the call to Boulder County Sheriff's Office was made at about 10:45 p.m.

Considering their ages and unfamiliarity with the area and the low nighttime temperatures and falling drizzle, the decision was made to initiate a search and rescue effort.

In addition to the sheriff's office, the fire protection district, mountain rescue, and rescue dogs were called in to help the search.

The three boys were found safe at about 6 a.m. Wednesday. They were well prepared to spend the night outdoors and made a fire until morning, according to the sheriff's office.
