The decisions were announced by Denver Public Schools, Jefferson County School District, Douglas County School District, Boulder Valley School District and Cherry Creek School District during the day on Thursday as heavy snow fell and a Winter Storm Warning was in effect.

The snowstorm started dropping wet snow overnight and it will continue to fall all through the day on Thursday and into Friday morning. Roads are snow-covered and icy and snowplows are facing a big challenge getting to side streets.

Schools across the Denver metro area and other parts of the Front Range are already canceled on Thursday.
